ARRIVING

Keys:

Enter garden and open doors to Iona end of cottage.

Keys in secure box, in external lidded storage box to right of doors.

Combination: 1927

 

STAYING AT COTTAGE

BEDROOMS:
Bedding:

If not already in bedroom duvets and pillows are stored in large white plastic boxes in loft to keep them dry.

Sheets are stored in bathroom chest of drawers.

 

KITCHEN:

Kitchen Hot Water:

Switch on electric switch on left of sink unit 

Hot water control under sink. Takes a bit of tweaking to master, but only leave on Maximum (dial turned completely clockwise) in preparation for doing dishes, etc. Otherwise leave turned anti-clockwise to Minimum 

Induction Hobs:

Only use magnetic/steel-based pots.

Take care with glass surface - keep dry and clean

Food Waste:

Use compost heap outside garden for teabags/coffee grounds, uncooked vegetable/fruit peelings.

Dispose of cooked food waste as normal refuse
Refuse:

Dispose of refuse in black bin liners in Large Wheelie Bins in Fionnphort Back Car Park 

Recycling:

Recycle Box under sink.

Recycle glass/tins/plastic/cardboard/paper in Fionnphort Back Car Park Recycle Point

Newspapers:

Save newspapers for lighting fires (Please don’t save other types of paper card as these are difficult to store)

Stove:
Stove in kitchen is not currently working.

 

BATHROOM:

Toilet:

Only use Eco toilet cleaner for best operation of Septic tank.

Avoid putting wipes, nappies and sanitary products, etc. down toilet.

Washing Machine:

Only use ECO washing liquid and softner.

‘D’ setting best option.

Clothes Dryer:
Use Bathroom clothes pulley and external drying line where possible. Empty water and fluff filter out when necessary.

 

SITTING ROOM:
Fire:

Burn wood or coal in open fire.

Kindling in wooden box in front of fire.

PLEASE LEAVE KINDLING BOX FULL FOR NEXT GUESTS, if necessary kindling/coal/logs can be bought at Fionnphort shop

Coal can also be purchased from the Garage near Ardfennaig.

Dispose of ash as normal refuse.

Internet:

Code behind router if active.

Wireless in kitchen is wi-fi too if active.

 

GARDEN:

Please leave gates closed at all times to avoid sheep entering and eating plants/trees.

LEAVING

Keys:

Leave keys in secure box, in external lidded storage box to right of kitchen doors.

Combination: 1927

Windows:

Make sure all closed including VELUX windows in loft.

Electricity:
Leave final meter reading in book with your name and date of stay.

Bedclothes:

Please try and wash bedclothes before leaving and hang up on pulley in bathroom.

Leave bathroom door OPEN to circulate air.

 

KITCHEN:

Swith off electric switch on left of sink unit

Clean Hobs
Refuse:

Dispose of refuse in Large Wheelie Bins in Fionnphort Back Car Park.

Recycling:

Recycle glass/tins/plastic/cardboard/paper in Fionnphort Back Car Park Recycle Point.

Food:

Remove any food from larder, fridge and containers that is likely to go out of date.

Cleaning:
Hoover floor.

Clear away dishes from dish rack if possible as mice will clamber over these and require rewashing.

Move dish mops/soap etc. to top of drinks cupboard to avoid mice eating them.

Un-plug all  electrical devices apart from Fridge/Freezer.

Plug-in mouse alarm.

 

SITTING ROOM:
Fire:

Leave logs and coal for next visitors.

Remove ash and sweep fireplace.

Internet:

Leave on

Tie up long curtains between sitting room and kitchen.

Hoover all floors.

Leave sitting room door through to bedroom OPEN to circulate air.

Plug-in mouse alarm.

 

BEDROOMS:

Bedding:

Please return all bedding to Large white Plastic boxes and leave in Loft to keep dry.

PLACE BEDSPREAD ON BARE MATTRESS as mice will eat mattress if not covered.

Plug-in mouse alarm.

Make sure all window sills clean.

Remove all clothes from drawers.

Empty all wate bins.

Hoover all floors.

Leave all bedroom doors OPEN to circulate air.

Keep curtains open/blinds up to let light in.

 

Close all gates and lock all doors
